TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language is a standardized test to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in English-speaking universities. The test is accepted by more than 11,000 universities and other institutions in over 190 countries and territories. TOEFL is one of the two major English-language tests in the world, the other being the IELTS. TOEFL is a trademark of the Educational Testing Service (ETS), which is a private non-profit organization and which designs and administers the tests. ETS issues official score reports which are sent independently to institutions and are valid for two years following the test. Now a days, mostly TOEFL ibt test is used by many applicants and which uses sacle of 0 to 120 points where each of module is given scores from 0 to 30. Firstly, Reading and listening sections are tested and then speaking and writing sections are followed with a 10 minute break. Total amount of time allowed to complete the whole test is 203 minutes.

Pearson Language Tests is a unit of the Pearson PLC group, dedicated to assessment and validation of the English language usage of non-native English speakers. PTE is approved for use by the Australia Border Agency and the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship for visa applications. PTE test is predominantly read by a computer rather than a human grader in order to reduce waiting times of the results for students. PTE Academic is delivered through the Pearson Virtual User Environment (VUE) centres. PTE-Academic is also acceptable for the United Kingdom and New Zealand visa applications.
